Your Adventure Story

Writer's picture: Liz ZamorskiLiz Zamorski

Back when I was first dating my husband, I gave him a blank scrapbook as one of his Christmas gifts. I fashioned it after the adventure book in the movie "UP!" and I imagined us filling the pages with ticket stubs and maps and memories.

But life has a way of lifing and we never took the time to print photos or organize our travel memorabilia. Instead, we stuffed entry tickets and pamphlets into shoeboxes and junk drawers, only to be tossed out during our next purge. We have the digital photos and memories to remind us, but I have found a new use for the adventure book!

I now use it to journal and create stories. These are not only ways to explore your own creative spark, but to also process life through play and fantasy. By getting the adventures in your mind down onto paper, you embody and claim the energy. It also helps in being able to spot patterns, stories, and metaphors for what's supporting and weighing on you.

Today, it’s your turn to step into the spotlight as the hero(ine) of your own tale!

I'm sharing with you a creative challenge that invites you to craft a story inspired by your journey, whether it’s a reflection of your real-life experiences or a vision for the adventure still ahead. With these guided prompts, you’ll explore twists, turns, treasures, and the wisdom you’ve gained along the way.

Things you'll need:

  • Your imagination

  • Something to write on

  • Something to write with

  • (optional) A warm beverage, candles, and something cozy on your feet

You can also follow along with the guided audio here:

Here are the workbook prompts for creating your adventure story to spark creativity and reflection. These prompts guide you through crafting your unique tale, blending introspection and playful imagination:

Step 1: Set the Stage

  • Where does your story begin? Describe the setting. Is it a faraway land, a cozy corner of your world, or somewhere entirely new?

  • Who are you at the start of this adventure? What’s on your mind, heart, or soul?

Step 2: The Call to Adventure

  • What sparked this journey? A message, a dream, a chance encounter?

  • Describe your first step into the unknown. How did it feel?

Step 3: Twists and Turns

  • Every adventure has its challenges. What obstacle, twist, or unexpected event tested your resolve?

  • Who or what showed up to guide or support you in this moment?

Step 4: The Treasure

  • What did you find at the heart of your adventure? Was it a physical treasure, an insight, or something else entirely?

  • How did it change you?

Step 5: The Journey Home

  • As you return, what lessons or gifts are you bringing back with you?

  • Who or what do you share this treasure with?

Step 6: Reflect

  • Give your story a title. What would the headline of this adventure be?

  • How does this story mirror a real or imagined part of your life?

Optional Magic:

If you want to take it deeper, draw a card from your tarot or oracle deck and imagine how it fits into your story. Is it a symbol of the challenge, the guide, or the treasure?

And THAT, my friends, is it! Giving yourself the time to play and craft and create creates space for the wisdom, knowing, and presence to be felt and integrated.

Let me know how this goes for you! If you send me your story or even just the title of it, I'll pull a card for you and give you a free mini-reading to support your journey!

xx Liz
